Installation Guide: Automatic Sensor Taps[edit]
Overview[edit]
Automatic sensor taps (also known as touchless or electronic taps) utilize infrared sensor technology to provide a hygienic, water-efficient, and convenient hand-washing experience. Because these units contain integrated electronic control modules and solenoid valves, the installation process differs slightly from traditional mechanical taps.
Installation Procedure[edit]
| Phase | Action | Technical Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Preparation | Clear the installation area and verify mounting hole dimensions. | Ensure the power source/battery pack location remains dry. |
| Mounting | Secure the tap body to the basin or countertop using the provided fixing kit. | Ensure the base seal (O-ring) is correctly positioned to prevent water ingress. |
| Electrical Setup | Connect the sensor cable to the control box/battery module. | Do not pull cables tightly; ensure connectors are fully seated and secure. |
| Hydraulic Connection | Connect the water supply hose to the solenoid valve and the outlet hose to the tap body. | Check that all rubber washers are present to ensure a watertight seal. |
| System Power-up | Install batteries or connect the mains transformer. | The system will typically enter a 30โ60 second self-calibration mode. |
| Calibration & Testing | Verify sensor activation and adjust flow rate if necessary. | Keep hands away from the sensor area during the initial self-calibration. |
Installation Best Practices[edit]
- Reflective Interference: Ensure there are no highly reflective surfaces (such as polished chrome walls or mirrors) directly facing the sensor, as these can cause unintended activation.
- Moisture Protection: While control boxes are designed for bathroom environments, they should be mounted in a position that minimizes the risk of direct water splashing or pooling.
- Maintenance: If flow rate diminishes over time, the issue is typically a blocked inlet filter screen. It is recommended to inspect and clean the filter before attempting to adjust the solenoid valve.
